Updates to COVID-19 Directions for 11 February 2021, South Australia

COVID-19 Directions have been updated in South Australia in relation to the situation in Victoria.

COVID-19 Directions have been updated in South Australia in relation to the situation in Victoria.

Updates have been made to the Cross Border Travel, Residential Aged Care Directions and Quarantine and Testing of Certain Former Victorian Arrivals. These updates provide restrictions for people travelling from Victoria.

Cross Border Travel Direction No 36 and Quarantine and Testing of Certain Former Victorian Arrivals Direction No 2

The Cross Border No 36 Direction and Quarantine and Testing of Certain Former Victorian Arrivals No 2 come into effect at 12.01am on Thursday 11 February 2021.

The changes are as follow:

Entry from Victoria

  • People wishing to enter South Australia on or after 12.01am Thursday 11 February 2021 having been in Greater Melbourne (including Sunbury) at any time on or after 12.01am Thursday 4 February are not permitted to enter. Exemptions do apply for Essential Travellers, SA residents, genuine relocations and people escaping Domestic Violence with approval prior to entry. For people in these categories COVID-19 testing, and self-quarantine may apply please refer to the Direction for more information of the requirements for each category.
  • People who have been at the Holiday Inn (Airport), 10/14 Centre Road, Melbourne Airport VIC 3045 or are a close contact or a person at the hotel on or after 12.01am Wednesday 27 January must contact SA Health immediately and quarantine (at a place determined by an authorised officer) for 14 days, receiving COVID-19 tests on days 1, 5 and 12.
  • People were in South Australia prior to 12.01am Thursday 11 February 2021, having been in the Greater Melbourne Area must continue to comply with their instructions under the previous COVID-19 Directions. Requirements for not change for these people. They must have immediately received a COVID-19 test and self-quarantined until they received a negative test result. They must then get tested again on day 5 and day 12.
  • People who were in South Australia prior to 12.01am Thursday 11 February 2021, having been at a 'Public Exposure Site' as defined on the following Victoria Government website must continue to comply with their instructions under the previous COVID-19 Directions. Requirements do not change for these people. They must continue with their 14-day quarantine and testing regime with COVID-19 tests on days 1, 5 & 12. https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/case-locations-and-outbreaks-covid-19
  • People who are travelling from other parts of Victoria (other than those stated above) are permitted to enter and do not have any testing or quarantine requirements.
  • People are permitted to transit through Melbourne Airport providing they have been in a Low Community Transmission Zone (ACT, WA-other than a Prohibited Location, NSW-other than a Restricted Location, NT, QLD, TAS and VIC- other than areas mentioned above) for 14 days, have only been in the airport for 2 hours or less and have worn a face mask for the entirety of the time they are in transit including during the flight.
  • People can only travel into South Australia from Victoria on particular roads. For a full list of Permitted Roads see Schedule 5 of the Cross Border Direction.

Residential Aged Care Facilities Direction No 29

The Residential Aged Care Facilities No 29 Direction comes into effect at 12.01am on Thursday 11 February 2021.

The only change to the Residential Aged Care Facilities Direction is:

  • People who have been in any Greater Melbourne Area are not permitted to enter an aged care facility without prior approval from SA Health.
  • All other travellers from Victoria are permitted to enter the facility.
  • A person who has entered SA and completed 14 days of quarantine is free to move around South Australia and also enter a Residential Aged Care Facility
