Updates to COVID-19 Directions for 15 February 2021, South Australia

Updates have been made to the Cross Border Travel and Quarantine and Testing of Certain Former Victorian Arrivals.

Cross Border Travel Direction No 38 and Quarantine and Testing of Certain Former Victorian Arrivals No 4. The Cross Border No 38 Direction came into effect at 8.35 pm on 15 February 2021 and Quarantine and Testing of Certain Former Victorian Arrivals No 4 came into effect at 8.33 pm 15 February 2021.

The changes are as follow:

Entry from Victoria

  • Between 28 January 2021 and 6 February 2021
    • Any person who transitions from a Low Community Transmission Zone through Greater Melbourne to depart from the Melbourne Airport, having been in the airport for 2 hours or less, are permitted to enter without restrictions providing they have been in a Low Community Transmission Zone for the previous 14 days
    • Exemptions apply for essential travellers, people genuinely relocating, returning residents, those escaping Domestic Violence
  • Between 7 February 2021 and 13 February 2021
    • Any person who transitions from a Low Community Transmission Zone through Greater Melbourne to depart from the Melbourne Airport, having been in the airport for 2 hours or less, must quarantine and submit to COVID-19 testing on day 1, 5 and 12. The person must quarantine after the day 1 test until they receive written notification of a negative test. (This does not include a person who has departed from Terminal 4 on the 9 February)
    • Exemptions apply for essential travellers, people genuinely relocating, returning residents, those escaping Domestic Violence
  • On the 9 February 2021
    • A person, whether they be transiting through from a Low Community Transmission Zone who has been in terminal 4 must quarantine for 14 days and have a COVID-19 test on day 1, 5 and 12
    • A person who is a household member of a person who has been in terminal 4 must quarantine until the person (the traveller) has a negative test result.
  • Between the 10 February 2021 and 12 February 2021
    • A person, whether they be transiting through from a Low Community Transmission Zone who has been in terminal 4 must have a COVID-19 test on day 1, 5 and 12 and must quarantine until they receive written advice of a negative test result. A person who is a household member of the traveller must quarantine until the traveller receives written advice of a negative test result.
  • On or after 4 February 2021
    • People travelling from Greater Melbourne are prohibited from entering South Australia. Please note exemptions apply for essential travellers, people genuinely relocating, returning residents, those escaping Domestic Violence and people travelling from regional Victoria.
  • On or after 13 February 2021
    • People travelling from Victoria are prohibited from entering South Australia. Please note exemptions apply for essential travellers, people genuinely relocating, returning residents, those escaping Domestic Violence and people travelling from regional Victoria.
  • On or after 15 February 2021
    • Any person who transitions from a Low Community Transmission Zone, through the Melbourne Airport, having been in that Low Community Transmission Zone for 14 days and having been in the airport for 2 hours or less and wearing a mask in public, may enter South Australia without quarantining or testing.
  • People travelling via an airport are still required to wear a mask while on the flight and in the airport.
  • Essential Travellers who fall within the category of Cross Border Community member no longer are required to submit to COVID-19 testing.

Entry from New Zealand

  • Current restrictions still apply to travellers from New Zealand where that upon arrival they must submitted to a COVID-19 test on day 1, 5 and 12 and must self-quarantine until they receive written advice of a negative result. In addition, a person who arrives or has arrived from New Zealand in the last 14 days must not attend any event in South Australia with an approved COVID Management Plan or at which more than 1000 people are present.

The Quarantine and Testing of Certain Former Victoria Arrivals No 4 Direction came into effect at 8.33 pm 15 February 2021. The Cross Border Travel Direction No 38 came into effect at 8.35 pm 15 February 2021
