Upgraded Elsternwick Park Officially Opened

Elsternwick Park's newly upgraded lighting system, timekeepers and media rooms have been officially opened.

Elsternwick Park's Oval 1 is home to the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA), Elsternwick Cricket Club and Old Melburnians Football Club.

The facilities and lighting were upgraded with assistance from a $1million State Government grant.

Bayside Deputy Mayor Cr Andrew Hockley, along with Ryan Batchelor MP and club representatives unveiled a plaque marking the completion of the works at the new facilities yesterday.

Cr Hockley said that Council had worked with Oval 1's tenant clubs on the project.

"The new lights include four new lighting towers with 300Lux lighting that are suitable for playing state, regional and local competition night matches as well as training," Cr Hockley said.

"The project has also involved upgrades to the pavilion, with a new timekeepers and media room, to ensure that game day officials have a clear line of sight across the ground, which will make hosting and playing matches easier."
