Urgent warning on safe stolen from Parkes, NSW

Police are warning people who stole a safe from a property at Parkes overnight, that it contains a substance which is potentially dangerous, NSW Police say.

Officers from Lachlan Local Area Command have been told the contents could cause significant injury if someone attempts to force it open.

Between 10pm yesterday and 07.30am today, firearms, ammunition and a safe were stolen from a home on Orange Street, Parkes.

The firearms are described as:

• A Tikka LSA rifle 55

• .250 calibre M55 Tikka rifle

• .243 calibre LSA – 55 Tikka rifle

• Lit S/S Tikka T3 rifle

• Adler single-barrel 12-gauge shotgun

• Sporter Norica air rifle

Among the stolen items was a cream-coloured metal safe with a brass T-shaped handle, approximately 60cm square.

Police are urging that people do NOT attempt to open the safe as police have been told it contains a substance that is potentially dangerous.
