All eyes will again be on Tasmania at the United States Australian Football League (USAFL), with the sponsorship agreement extended for another five years.
Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Guy Barnett, said we are delivering for Tasmania with this opportunity by supporting our strategic commitment to strengthen our ties with the United States across key areas including visitor attraction, skills recruitment and export growth.
"The USAFL National Championships, held each October, is among the largest AFL tournaments in the world, featuring over 80 matches and 50 teams from across the country," Minister Barnett said.
"The event draws thousands of athletes and spectators, offering a high-impact platform to showcase Tasmanian products and experiences, and the TASMANIAN brand.
"This is more than a sporting partnership, it's a gateway to one of our most important international markets.
"The USA is our third-largest goods export destination and is the leading source of international visitors to Tasmania. This extended sponsorship allows us to promote Tasmanian excellence internationally, from our boots to our beverages.
"With the Tasmanian Devils on the way for 2028, it's also a great chance to build an even bigger supporter base."
This year, Tasmanian brands Blundstone and Jansz are partnering with the government to participate in finals promotions in Arizona. Local Launceston footballer Kaleb Lee will also travel to the USA for the second consecutive year to umpire the national tournament.
"By taking a whole-of-government Team Tasmania approach to this sponsorship, we are ensuring this partnership delivers real value for Tasmania, driving international tourism, opening new doors for Tasmanian exporters, and attracting skilled talent to support our growing industries," Minister Barnett said.
"It's just another way we're taking Tasmania to the world, and bringing the world to us."
