Van driver's near miss in wet conditions

A driver is lucky to be alive after he crashed his van earlier today at Williamstown.

Just before 4pm on Thursday 11 July, a man driving a Toyota van left the Para Wirra Road after he failed to safely take a bend due to a combination of excessive speed and wet road. He skidded off the road and crashed into trees.

The 36-year-old from Greenacres was fortunate to walk away from the crash uninjured. He was issued a $253 on the spot fine for failing to keep control of his vehicle and his van was defected.

Police remind all road users to drive to the conditions and heed speed warnings signs particularly when driving through country areas.

His van was towed from the scene.
