A 32-year-old man has had his vehicle seized and will face charges for possession of alcohol in an Alcohol Protected Area in Tennant Creek at the weekend.

Just after 4am on Saturday police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle where a male driver returned a positive reading for drink driving, and was subsequently arrested.

During the traffic stop, officers observed a female passenger appear to hide items under a doona, and further enquiries found a large amount of alcohol in the back seat and rear of the vehicle.

Under the NT Liqour Act, the vehicle and alcohol was seized and the man will appear before the Tennant Creek Local Court on July 16 charged with one count each of Bring Liqour into Alcohol Protected Area and Supply Liqour Alcohol Protected Area.
