Vehicle hits tree and fence after police pursuit, NSW

Two men have been taken to hospital after their vehicle hit a tree and fence following a police pursuit on the state’s Central Coast last night, NSW Police say.

Shortly after 10pm (Wednesday 12 September 2018), officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District observed an unregistered blue Nissan skyline – missing a number plate and bonnet – on Kerry Avenue, Berkeley Vale, and attempted to stop it.

When the vehicle failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.

Police lost sight of the Nissan and a short time later, it was located crashed into a tree and fence on Kenmare Avenue.

The driver, a 21-year-old man from Berkeley Vale, fled the scene.

Following a short foot pursuit, he was found at a nearby property suffering a laceration to his knee and head.

The passenger, a 22-year-old man from Berkeley Vale, was located next to the vehicle, suffering a sore back.

Both men were taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment.

Inquiries are continuing.
