Vehicle to be recovered after sinking in channel, NSW

Police will attempt to recover a vehicle that plunged into the Swansea channel yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 5.35pm yesterday, a Ford Falcon was travelling east on the Swansea Bridge, Swansea, when it crashed through a pedestrian barrier and plummeted into the channel.

The driver, a 40-year-old woman was able to escape the vehicle and swim to the surface.

The vehicle sank in about 12m of water. She was not seriously injured.

Police from Marine Area Command, Divers and Waterways will attempt to recover the vehicle tomorrow between 9am and 10am tomorrow.
