Vessel Skipper Charged With Drink Driving, TAS

On Sunday 11 February 2018 Ulverstone Police arrested and charged a 54 year old male with operating a recreational vessel whilst his blood alcohol level was in excess of 0.05 grams of alcohol in 210 litres of breath, Tasmania Police say.

He was also charged with a number of other marine related offences including those relating to  mandatory safety equipment. There were 4 adults and 1 child people on board the vessel.

Police would like to remind members of the public,  as with driving a car, boating skills may be affected by alcohol and drugs. Loss of judgement and coordination and increase in reaction time can lead to the inability to react appropriately to a dangerous boating situation.

The man will face court in Devonport in April.
