Vice President of El Salvador visits International Criminal Court

ICC

On 22 October 2021, H.E. Mr Félix Ulloa, Vice President of El Salvador, visited the International Criminal Court (ICC), where he was received by the President of the Court, Judge Piotr Hofmański, ICC Prosecutor Karim A.A. Khan QC and ICC Registrar Peter Lewis.

President Hofmański thanked Vice President Ulloa for El Salvador's support to the Court, noting that cooperation of States Parties is crucial for the ICC in order to fulfil its mandate. "There are still some countries in your region that are not part of the Rome Statute system. El Salvador's support in promoting the ICC system is highly appreciated particularly taking into account El Salvador's own experience in joining the Statute as the latest country in its region to do so", President Hofmański stated.

The visit of Vice President Ulloa to the ICC highlights El Salvador's commitment to the Court and the joint efforts deployed in the fight against the impunity of the perpetrators of the most serious crimes that affect the international community as a whole. El Salvador deposited its instrument of ratification of the Rome Statute on 3 March 2016.
