Victim sought following attempted robbery in Sydney

Police are appealing for a woman who was the victim of an attempted bag snatch in the Sydney CBD at the weekend to come forward, NSW Police say.

They are also seeking information about two unknown teenage girls who might be able to assist with the investigation.

About 6.45pm on Saturday 2 September 2017, a woman was walking near the corner of Hay Street and Pitt Street, Haymarket, when a teenage boy allegedly attempted to take her handbag.

The woman screamed for help and fell to the ground, being dragged about 10 metres before a number of passersby came to her aid.

Another teenager allegedly began assaulting the passersby, threatening them with a knife before the two teenagers ran into Central Railway Station where they met up with two other people.

Officers from the Police Transport Command arrested two teenage boys, both aged 17, a short time later and they are currently before the court.

Police are now working to identify two teenage girls who were in the vicinity and the woman who was targeted in the incident.

The woman is described as being Asian in appearance, aged in her 40s to 50s with shoulder-length dark, wavy hair, wearing a purple puffer-style jacket, dark pants and carrying a blue/black over-the-shoulder handbag. She was speaking Mandarin during the incident.

She was in the company of two other women and a man described as being Asian in appearance, about 190cm tall, wearing a black jacket, black dress pants and carrying a black computer-style bag.

Police urge the woman and her companions to contact officers by attending their nearest police station or calling Crime Stoppers.
