Victoria's Tourism Industry Supports Cowes to Stony Point Ferry Initiative

Victorian tourism’s most powerful industry group has praised Bass Coast Council’s support for a ferry between Cowes and Stony Point.

"Linked with the Queenscliff to Sorrento car and passenger ferry it opens both eastern and western Victoria to a multi-million dollar tourism boom.

"That is why the Cowes to Stony Point Ferry was a key priority in our 2018 State Election recommendations which were launched last week," Ms Mariani said.

"Bass Coast Council and Destination Phillip Island Regional Tourism Board must be congratulated for recognising the importance and ramifications of this project, not only for their region but for Victoria," she said.

The Bass Coast Council is urging the Victorian government to fund a comprehensive investigation of the suitability of the Cowes Jetty as an alternative to nearby Mussel Rocks as the site for the terminal.

"We also urge the state government to fund council’s request for the investigation as ease of access is vital to the success of the ferry service and the growth of the visitor economy throughout the region and across Victoria," Ms Mariani said.
