Victoria name Second XI squad to face ACT

Victoria has named a 12-player squad to take on ACT in their Toyota Second XI clash in Footscray.

Xavier Crone will captain the side that includes nine non-contracted players.

Dylan Brasher, Jai Lemire and Doug Warren will make their Victorian Second XI debuts, while Tom O'Donnell, Harry Smyth and Blake Thomson will play their first matches this season.

Cricket Victoria's Head of Male Cricket, David Hussey said it was important to continue to reward performances at Victorian Premier Cricket level.

"Providing an opportunity to in-form players performing in Premier Cricket is something we've set out to do and it's exciting to bring in this group of players, some who will experience Second XI cricket for the first time," Hussey said.

"This side will feature the top four leading run scorers in Premier Cricket this season, it's pleasing to be able to give them an opportunity at a higher level on the back of those performances."

Julien Wiener will coach the side with Adam Crosthwaite as an assistant coach.

Victoria's Sheffield Shield side will face South Australia at the CitiPower Centre starting on Monday with a squad to be released in the coming days.
