Victoria sits at the bottom of the table for growth in short-term international visitors with arrivals continuing to decline over the past year.
The latest international tourism data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) shows Victoria is yet again the worst performing jurisdiction in the country with visitor arrivals falling by more 2,000 in the year to June 2025.
The decline comes as every other state and territory recorded an increase in arrivals, with the number of visitors to the Northern Territory and Tasmania growing by 38.48 per cent and 34.14 per cent respectively.
When compared to pre-pandemic levels, Victoria has seen a decline of 18,060 visitors or 10.57 per cent, also making it the worst performing state in the nation.
Shadow Minister for Tourism, Sport, Events and Hospitality, Sam Groth, said: "Under Labor, Victoria is not seen as a preferred destination for international tourists, with local tourism and hospitality businesses suffering as a consequence.
"Victoria should be the best performing state in the nation. Instead, it is at the back of the pack because the Allan Labor Government has no plan and no money to grow our share of the international tourism market, becoming too reliant on sugar hit events that draw local crowds.
"With Labor putting up taxes on everything from holidays and accommodation, running up record debt, and allowing our roads to crumble, they have made Victoria a less attractive destination for international tourists.
"Labor cannot manage money, cannot manage our tourism sector and Victorians are paying the price."
