International tourism to Victoria continues to lag below pre-pandemic levels under the Allan Labor Government, new figures confirm.
The latest short-term visitor arrivals data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics also show Victoria is the worst performing of all Australian states.
Furthermore, Victoria was the only state to record a year-on-year decrease in short-term visitor arrivals between May 2024 and May 2025, with a decline of 2.3 per cent.
Shadow Minister for Tourism, Sport, Events and Hospitality, Sam Groth, said: "Under Labor, Victoria's tourism sector continues to suffer because they have made Victoria a more expensive state to travel to and do business in.
"The ABS figures confirm not only is Victoria further behind pre-pandemic tourism levels than any other state, but we are also the only state to have gone backwards in the year to May 2025."Victoria has the potential to be the best performing state in the nation, but with Labor putting up taxes on everything from health, education, and accommodation, running up record debt, and allowing our roads to crumble, they have made Victoria a less attractive destination.
"Labor cannot manage money, cannot manage our tourism sector and Victorians are paying the price."
