Victorian Ministers To Speak During Australia's Biggest Week In Biotech

AusBiotech is pleased to announce that the Hon Danny Pearson, Victorian Minister for Economic Growth and Jobs and Minister for Finance; the Hon Ros Spence, Victorian Minister for Agriculture, Community Sport, Carers and Volunteers; and Ms Michaela Settle, Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Victoria, will all speak at the flagship events of Australia's biggest week in biotech — AusBiotech Invest and the AusBiotech International Conference 2025.

The Victorian State Government is the Host State Partner for this year's AusBiotech Invest and AusBiotech International Conferences in Melbourne (21–24 October).

AusBiotech CEO Rebekah Cassidy said the Victorian Government's partnership is a vital contributor to Australia's thriving life sciences sector.

"As one of the Asia-Pacific's pre-eminent biotechnology events, AusBiotech's four-day conference brings together Australia's leading life science companies and a global audience of delegates and investors," Ms Cassidy said.

"We're delighted that Minister Pearson, Minister Spence, and Ms Michaela Settle MP will each address key sessions, highlighting Victoria's broad engagement across the life sciences and the Victorian Government's ongoing support for the sector's growth across health, agriculture, and the wider economy."

Minister Pearson will officially open the AusBiotech Invest Conference on Tuesday, 21 October. The one-day investor forum will welcome more than 250 delegates representing Australia's leading life science companies alongside local and global investors, at Crown Towers, Melbourne.

He will also will officially open the AusBiotech International Conference, welcoming more than 1,600 delegates, including representatives from around the world, at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

"Victoria's world-class biotech sector continues to foster innovation, create high-skilled jobs and improve lives. We're proud to once again host AusBioInvest and the AusBiotech Conference, showcasing how Victoria is fuelling economic growth and advancing the future of biotechnology," Minister Pearson said.

On Thursday, 23 October, Minister Spence will open day two and address delegates at the AusBiotech International Conference.

"We're excited to showcase how Victoria leads the way in agriculture innovation at Australia's largest biotechnology conference. This is part of the Government's investment to transformative science and technology developments to grow our $20 billion agricultural sector," Minister Spence said.

We are also pleased to announce that Ms Settle will officially open the AgriBiotech and BioSecurity Summit at the AusBiotech International Conference.

"Biotechnology plays a vital role in shaping the future of our agriculture — building stronger, more resilient crops, lifting food production, and driving innovation in animal breeding. This conference brings together our local knowledge and global expertise, opening the door to new ideas, fresh partnerships, and smarter ways to support our farmers and grow the entire sector," Ms Settle said.
