State and Federal landowners along the Sydney Harbour foreshore have formed a new group aimed at jointly delivering a suite of initiatives to enhance the visitor experience around Sydney Harbour, including digital innovation.
The Sydney Harbour Collaboration (SHC), led by Property NSW, includes 13 State and Federal landowners along the harbour foreshore, stretching from The Royal Botanic Gardens to The Bays Precinct.
CEO of Property NSW, Brett Newman, said this group has been established to provide a strategic, whole-of-government approach to major projects and initiatives around Sydney Harbour.
The initial focus will be on ensuring more seamless security and events management, exploring digital innovation opportunities such as free WiFi, enhancing connectivity and improving wayfinding.
"We have the greatest Harbour in the world and there are opportunities to improve the way we work together to deliver a better experience for locals and visitors," Mr Newman said.
"While each precinct has its own unique character, community and commercial considerations, the SHC will seek joint solutions to deliver enhanced outcomes for the public."
The SHC has been established following extensive consultation which highlighted a common purpose to work more closely on shared strategic and operational priorities.
In the longer term, it’s envisaged the group will play a broader role in driving greater strategic influence on priorities and funding around Sydney Harbour, including deeper engagement with other private and public sector stakeholders.
Mr Newman said at present, management of the foreshore can at times be fragmented, resulting in overlapping responsibilities and disparate approaches.
"Our focus is on ensuring a seamless, best-practice visitor experience," Mr Newman said.
"Having a consistent voice on both strategic and operational issues will ensure we’re delivering a better outcome for the millions of visitors to our Harbour each year."
