Visits restricted – SEQ

Due to a case of COVID-19 in the community in Brisbane, the decision has been made to suspend personal visits in prisons in South East Queensland.

This includes prison from Woodford Correctional Centre south and west to Southern Queensland Correctional Centre and including all Wacol-based centres, Numinbah and Palen Creek Correctional centres.

This decision was made to protect the safety of prisoners and our officers on advice from Queensland Health. All correctional centres will implement Stage 3 restrictions immediately for at least 72 hours.

This will allow Queensland Health the time to better understand the impact of the case of community transmission and any associated risks.

Every essential worker entering a prison in SEQ will undergo health screening including thermal imaging, and must wear a mask.

We understand that this will have an impact, especially on families and we thank everyone for their patience and understanding at this time.

There are many other ways to continue to contact a prisoner.
