Volunteers Essential to Deliver Meals on Wheels

Cabonne Council receives funding to provide a range of home and community care solutions, under the service name Cabonne Home Support (CHS).

These services focus on maximising the client's independence by building on their strengths, capacity and goals to remain independent and safe at home. This support aids to delay, or avoid, the need for more complex forms of aged care.

Frozen Meals On Wheels is a core aspect of the service with delicious fresh salads and frozen soups, snacks, desserts and meals on offer. The meals provided are sourced from Bathurst and Wagga Wagga, where they are made with fresh ingredients and seasonal vegetables before being frozen and sent to service providers.

Preparing the meals requires nothing more than a microwave, and meals come in small and regular sizes for all appetites with a range of Gluten Free, Low Salt and Vegetarian options available.

CHS have volunteer delivery drivers who deliver to Cudal, Cumnock, Manildra, Molong and Yeoval on Tuesdays and Canowindra on Thursdays. Meals can also be picked up directly from the Cabonne Home Support office at 70 Gaskill Street Canowindra.

If you are over the age of 65, or 50 years or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people, you may be eligible for subsidised prices with approval from My Aged Care.
