Wagga Wagga City Council will join communities across Australia in recognising Feeding Tube Awareness Week (FTAW) from Sunday 1 February until Sunday 7 February 2026, to raise awareness, share information and provide connection for people who rely on tube feeding.
To mark the week, the Wagga Wagga Historic Council Chambers and the trees along Fitzmaurice Street will be illuminated in purple and blue as part of the #FTAWLightUp initiative, shining a light on the many Australians, including families in our Riverina community, who depend on feeding tubes for their nutrition.
Tube feeding, or enteral nutrition, is a vital lifeline for people of all ages who cannot eat or drink safely or need additional nutritional support.
Behind every feeding tube is a story of families, carers, children, teenagers, and adults balancing health needs with everyday life.
One of those stories is Jessie B, who lives with a feeding tube.
"At the time, a feeding tube felt like the beginning of the end. But now I know better. It was in fact, the beginning of living," Jessie said.
Throughout the week, the FTAW Virtual Education Program will release new video content daily, featuring tube-feeding specialists and individuals with lived experience.
This free program makes learning accessible for regional and rural communities. View the program at: https://feedingtubeaware.com.au/events/virtualeducation
