Kate Bush fans from across the Riverina and beyond flocked to Wagga Wagga's Wollundry Lagoon Precinct to be part of Council's second Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever on Sunday (20 July).
Around 100 Cathys and Heathcliffs gathered on the lawn outside the Wagga Wagga Civic Theatre to recreate Kate Bush's landmark 1978 'Wuthering Heights' dance and music video.
Led by local dance instructor Hayley Allen-Freeman, they joined with the thousands of other people taking part in Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever events at locations around the world.
Council's Community Development Officer Victoria Lowe was thrilled with the local turnout, which was more than double the number of dancers at last year's inaugural 'Wuther' in Wagga Wagga.
"It was a wonderful way to mark the end of the 2025 FRESH intergenerational program," Victoria Lowe said.
"We had quite a range of ages participate, with a lot of them born well and truly after the song hit the charts, right up to people aged in their early 80s.
"And it wasn't just locals. We had a participant travel from Wombat, near Young, as well as a group travel up from Albury and a Griffith contingent, and they all loved it.
"You could see from the smiles on everyone's faces that they were having a lot of fun, being with friends and other like-minded people.
"The fact that the number of participants doubled this year shows that people want to make these sorts of connections as well."
Some of the dancers had attended the four free rehearsal sessions held in the lead up to the main event, while others came along for the final rehearsal just before the main performance to go through the routine.
When it came to outfits, red was the dress of the day, with a few wigs also making an appearance on the 'dance lawn'.
"Once the music started, those differences didn't matter," Ms Lowe said.
"It's not about perfection. It's not about judgment. It's just about turning up and participating and having fun, while making connections, and being part of the community.
"We hope to see everyone come back and some new faces join us when we 'wuther' in Wagga Wagga again in 2026!"
