Wallan Bowling Club lights up

The Wallan Bowling Club will now be able to offer around the clock bowls after turning their brand-new lights on.

The Club, which boasts about 80 members and 60 active bowlers, celebrated the new infrastructure at an event on Friday, 19 July with Mitchell Shire Councillors and Member for Yan Yean Danielle Green.

Mitchell Shire Council worked alongside the Wallan Bowling Club to have the lighting installed. The Victorian Government contributed $70,000 towards the project through the Strategic Community Sports Fund.

Council would to thank Ms Green and the Victorian Government for their ongoing support.

The lighting will further enhance the Wallan Bowling Club. Two years ago, the club received funding from the State Government to convert one of their two grass greens to a synthetic surface - which will now be lit up.

Mitchell Shire's population is rapidly growing, and Council is working with clubs and community groups to proactively fit out the region with new infrastructure.
