Wanted man arrested at Tamworth

A man wanted on outstanding warrants for alleged property and personal violence-related offences in the state's northeast has been charged.

About 4.20am today, (Thursday 28 April 2022), officers attached to Operation Western Mongoose were patrolling Kent Street, Tamworth, when they sighted a man wanted on outstanding warrants.

Police attempted to stop the man on his pushbike before he allegedly fled the location.

A short time later, the police dog located the man hiding the front yard of a home on Goonoo Goonoo Road.

The 37-year-old man was arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station.

He was charged with three counts of enter enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.

Police also executed two outstanding arrests warrants.

The man was refused bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court today (Thursday 28 April 2022).

Operation Western Mongoose was established in April 2022, consisting of police from the Proactive Crime and Crime Prevention Unit and detectives within the Oxley Police District, Western Region Enforcement Squad, Traffic and Highway Command, Youth Command and Dog Unit.
