Wanted man charged near Coffs Harbour, NSW

A man wanted on a warrant has been arrested and charged after allegedly running from police on the state’s North Coast yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 3.45pm yesterday, officers from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command, with the assistance of officers from the Dog Unit, attended a home in McFayden Street, Toormina, in order to arrest a man.

The 25-year-old man, who was wanted on a warrant and for an alleged pursuit the previous day in Sawtell, allegedly fled the house.

Officers with the assistance of a police dog arrested the man nearby.

The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Coffs Harbour Health Campus after being injured.

He was released from hospital today and taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with not stop police pursuit (Skye’s law), use weapon to avoid apprehension, assault police (x2), resist arrest (x2), traffic offences, escape police custody and the warrant

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court today.
