Wanted man charged over cross-border offences - Murray River

A man wanted on outstanding warrants has been charged over alleged cross-border traffic and property offences in the Murray River region.

About two weeks ago, a joint operation between the Albury Proactive Unit and Wodonga Police commenced, after the 19-year-old allegedly missed his bail reporting conditions.

It will be alleged the man was involved in stolen motor vehicle offences in both New South Wales and Victoria, resulting in five warrants being issued in New South Wales for his arrest.

About 2.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 1 June 2021), officers attached to the Murray River Police District attended a home on Breen Street, Lavington, and located the man hiding in a bedroom closet.

He was allegedly found in possession of methylamphetamine.

He was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station, where he was charged over the five outstanding warrants, as well as multiple traffic, property and drug offences.

He was refused bail to appear in Albury Local Court today (Wednesday 2 June 2021).
