A man wanted over an outstanding arrest warrant for alleged domestic violence offences has been extradited from Victoria, charged with intimidation and telecommunications offences after allegedly harassing a teenage girl.
On Wednesday 15 June 2022, officers from the Murray River Police District received a report from a 16-year-old girl that she had allegedly been harassed by a man known to her.
Following inquiries, officers – with assistance from Victoria Police - attended a hotel in High Street, Wodonga, Victoria on Friday 15 July 2022 and arrested a 19-year-old man.
He was taken to Wodonga Magistrates Court where an application for his extradition to NSW was granted yesterday (Monday 18 July 2022).
The man was conveyed to Albury Police Station where he was charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic), and use carriage service to menace/harass/offend.
Police will allege in court that the man had called the girl in excess of 150 times over a three-day period.
He was also charged with traffic offences for an unrelated matter and an outstanding warrant for alleged intimidation and weapons offences was also executed.
The North Albury man was refused bail to appear in Albury Local Court today (Tuesday 19 July 2022).
