Wanted murder suspect Travis Kirchner arrested, SA

Police have arrested wanted man Travis Kirchner, along with another man and woman who he was in company with, at a Victorian home this evening, according to SA Police.

Kirchner was wanted in connection with the death of mother-of-three Sally Rothe in Murray Bridge on Sunday night (4 February).

Just after 6pm today (9 February) officers from Victoria Police Fugitive Task Force and Homicide Squad attended a home in Doveton after receiving information from SAPOL’s Major Crime Investigation Branch and arrested Kirchner without incident.

A 49-year-old man and 50-year-old woman from Murray Bridge who were also at the home were arrested for assisting an offender to escape apprehension.

The arrest comes after extensive searches of more than 110 properties since Sunday utilising numerous SAPOL resources including STAR Group, uniformed patrols, Dog and Water Operations unit officers and the Murray Mallee Local Service Area’s Criminal Investigation Branch.

The family of Sally Rothe have been notified of the arrests.

Officers from SAPOL’s Major Crime Investigation Branch will travel to Victoria over the weekend to apply for all three to be extradited back to South Australia to face charges.

They will appear in the Dandenong Magistrates Court on Monday.
