War medals stolen in burglary in Shailer Park, QLD

Police are appealing for public assistance to help reunite a 78-year-old man with a series of war medals which were stolen from his him in Shailer Park on June 27, Queensland Police say.

Officers were called to an address on Wirra Street on the afternoon of June 27 after reports that a house had been broken into earlier that day.

A variety of property was stolen, including a range of war medals, medallions and various other property that has a lot of sentimental value to the 78-year-old man who lives at the address.

The below items are very distinctive and investigating police are appealing to the community to help locate them and reunite them with the owner.

1) A medallion, brown/silver colour awarded to Douglas W.Leah . The engraving reads: "An Improved Method Of Lowering Lifeboats" he was awarded a medallion: (St Pancras Exhibition; 20 Nov. 1881).

2) A medallion, silver colour awarded to D.W. Leah. The engraving reads "Dominion of Canada. 1913 D.W Leigh for Photography St John N.B

3) War Service medals

4) Miniature statuette: Ancient Greek wrestlers approximately 12-15cms tall

5) Royal Worcester miniature commemorative chine plate: Golden Jubilee coaster

6) Miniature round tray, Wedgewood china plate/tray: White on pale blue, diameter approximately 11cms. (not pictured)
7) Miniature statuette: Greek archer, bronze metal, approximately 12-15cms tall (not pictured)
8) Miniature statuette : Prowling Lion, white plastic approximately 5cms tall (not pictured)
9) Miniature pewter silver frog: Approximately 3.5cms long, 2cms high (not pictured)
10) Miniature silver metal scorpion: Approximately 3.5cms long (not pictured)

Police are appealing to anyone that can assist with their investigation to contact them.
