Way over the mark in Chirnside Park

A Lilydale man has been left with no car and a hefty fee to get it back after allegedly drink driving over the speed limit in Chirnside Park last night, Victoria Police say.

The 45-year-old was intercepted by police on Paynes Road about 11pm after he was detected travelling at 151km/h in a 70km/h zone.

He then returned a positive preliminary breath test and was taken to a police station, where he returned an alleged blood alcohol concentration of .172 per cent.

The driver had his licence suspended for 12 months and his car impounded at a cost of $1017.

He is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving and speeding offences.
