Weapons and drug charges at Runaway Bay, QLD

Police have charged two men and a woman following a vehicle intercept at Runaway Bay overnight, Queensland Police say.

Around 7.50pm, patrolling police have identified a vehicle that was in the drive through of a fast food restaurant on Lae Drive as being stolen.

Police have positioned their vehicle in front of the allegedly stolen vehicle, and it is alleged that the occupants have reversed into another vehicle before driving the vehicle forward into the police vehicle.

Police will further allege that the three occupants in the vehicle have refused to get out and, as a result, police have been forced to use OC spray to subdue one of the men.

Two men and a woman were then taken into custody.

The police vehicle and the other vehicle that was struck have received minor damage as a result of the incident.

Whilst searching the vehicle, it will be alleged that police located a knife as well as a quantity of drugs and drug utensils.

A 33-year-old man has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of dangerous drugs and unlawful possession of a controlled drug and obstruct police.

A 23-year-old Labrador woman has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of a weapon and possession of a utensil.

A 23-year-old Southport man has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of a utensil.

All three are due to appear in the Southport Magistrates court today.
