Weapons Charges, Garbutt

The Townsville District Tactical Crime Squad arrested and charged a man with multiple alleged weapons offences after intercepting a vehicle in Garbutt on 28 January.

Around 1.20am, officers stopped the silver Polestar 2 on Meenan Street following investigations indicating one of the occupants was wanted on warrants for alleged weapons offences.

Police requested an occupant of the vehicle, a 29-year-old Kelso man, step out of the vehicle and speak to them. The man complied, however, it will be alleged he attempted to flee on foot.

The man was subsequently arrested before a flick knife was allegedly located on him.

He has been charged with multiple offences including, one count each of unlawful possession of a weapon (flick knife), possession of a knife in a public place, and obstruct police officer.

The man is due to appear before Townsville Magistrates Court today, 28 January.
