Welcome moves to give Australia a head start

The Government is right to capitalise on Australia's success in managing the health crisis to attract businesses and highly skilled people Business Council chief executive Jennifer Westacott said.

"We welcome the establishment of the Global Business and Talent Attraction Taskforce.

"Australia is in a global competition to attract investment and talent. These sorts of measures will give us a head start and are also critical to creating the 1.5 million jobs we will need to drive the recovery.

"We can't waste a moment to get in front of the world and not fall behind.

"Australia's success over the last 30 years has been built on overseas trade and investment and this important step is an injection of new energy in the right direction.

"Attracting new businesses to our shores creates jobs for Australians, importing knowledge and innovation to train and reskill Australians for the future."
