West Tamar Destination Action Plan to build on visitors to north

Will Hodgman,Premier & Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events

Tourism is one of Tasmania's great competitive strengths, and is driving our continuing strong economic performance.

The Tasmanian Liberal Government wants every region to benefit from a thriving visitor economy, by ensuring tourists see more of our state while they are here.

This is why we have partnered with Tourism Northern Tasmania, the West Tamar Council and the local community to develop a Destination Action Plan which identifies priority actions to drive growth in the West Tamar visitor economy.

The West Tamar Destination Action Plan identifies unifying the area's local brand and marketing, targeting seasonal audiences, making the River Tamar an icon destination, and better collaboration in experience development and delivery.

Working in partnership between all levels of government and local industry leaders is critical to our continued success as a premium destination, and to drive greater visitor dispersal into the regions with a higher spend per tourist.

We look forward to working closely with the local West Tamar community to deliver on this new Action Plan, and take tourism in this special region to the next level.
