Westpac introduces special paid leave to support employees to get COVID-19 vaccinated

Westpac

Westpac Group is today introducing new measures to support employees through COVID-19, including special paid leave for employees to attend COVID-19 vaccination appointments.

From today, employees will be able to apply for a half day special paid leave for each of their COVID-19 vaccination appointments, totalling one full day of leave.

Westpac Group CEO, Peter King, says: "Getting people vaccinated is key to protecting our family and friends should further outbreaks occur, as well as opening up the economy and returning to a more normal way of life. While vaccination is a personal decision and employees should seek personal medical advice, we want to do everything we can to encourage employees to roll up their sleeve and get the jab."

"Westpac is supportive of running a corporate COVID-19 vaccination program, as we do for the flu jab, and will do so if it becomes available".
