Police are trying to locate the driver of a vehicle after a wheel from a light truck or trailer has come loose and struck the windscreen of a police van on the Gold Coast last night.
Around 11.45pm the police van with two officers inside was driving northbound on the M1 when at Helensvale a wheel has struck the windscreen causing substantial damage.
Both officers were showered with glass but suffered no injuries from the incident.
Police believe it is possible that the driver may be unaware that the wheel has come loose.
Anyone who may have witnessed or have dashcam of the incident is urged to contact police.
