Wheelers Hill theft and deceptions

Monash Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after a credit card was stolen in Wheelers Hill and subsequently used at locations across Melbourne, Victoria Police say.

It is understood a woman had deposited cash at an ATM at a Springvale Road shopping centre on 5 September and accidentally left her card in the machine.

A man discovered the card in the ATM and used it to withdraw an amount of cash.

The card was then used to purchase items at a service station at the corner of Ferntree Gully and Springvale roads, Wheelers Hill; a shopping centre on Dandenong Road, Malvern East; and a shopping centre on Victoria Street, Richmond.

Detectives have since released images of a man who they believe can assist with their enquiries.

He is perceived as Caucasian in appearance, aged in his late 20s and about 185cm tall with a solid build and a sleeve tattoo on his left arm.

The man was also wearing glasses.

Anyone with information or who recognises the man is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
