Wheels Up For Destination Doha

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

From December 2027, Qatar Airways will connect with Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport, offering improved access to all corners of the globe from Australia's newest airport.

Qatar Airways will use Boeing wide-body aircraft to land at Australia's newest airport, with the potential to carry up to 354 passengers per flight.

Return flights to Doha will operate three times each week, which in addition to the daily flights to Singapore, offers great flexibility for travellers.

These new flights have been secured as a result of the updated bilateral air services agreement with Qatar secured earlier this year.

This route has been secured through the NSW Government's Western Sydney International Take-Off Fund. The Take-Off Fund is forecast to attract more than 162,000 international visitors to NSW and generate an estimated $530 million in visitor expenditure.

The announcement builds on previous Take-Off Fund support for new flights from New Zealand, Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City, as the Minns Labor Government works to increase NSW's aviation capacity by 8.5 million seats and grow the state's visitor economy to $91 billion by 2035.

The new flights, QR906 from Doha to Western Sydney, and the return leg, QR907, will go on sale on 19 December 2026, with the maiden flight departing Doha on 15 December 2027.

Qatar Airways is one of Australia's top 10 international airlines, based on passenger numbers, operating to 177 international destinations in 87 countries.
