Whitehorse Council has confirmed its commitment to maintaining the in-house management of Council's two Aqualink facilities, and continued operation of Council's Customer Service Centre at Box Hill Town Hall.
Mayor Andrew Davenport said these decisions reflect Council's commitment to delivering high quality and accessible services for the Whitehorse community.
"We have seen two years of focused improvement across our leisure operations and programs, putting Council in a strong position to continue managing services at Aqualink Box Hill and Aqualink Nunawading in-house".
Whitehorse Council made the decision to explore external management models for its two aquatic facilities in February 2023 and have been working towards a tender process.
Another decision from Monday night's meeting was to keep operating a Customer Service Centre at Box Hill Town Hall. In December 2023, Whitehorse Council decided to close its Customer Service function at Box Hill Town Hall at the end of December 2025 due to in-person interactions declining by 73% over the last 6 years.
This decision marked a shift in direction for the Council with the majority of Councillors voting to keep the Customer Service Centre function open.
"Box Hill is a thriving hub of multicultural community activity and will only continue to grow. Keeping our customer service centre open in the heart of Whitehorse will ensure Council services are readily available and easily accessible to the community" said Mayor Andrew Davenport.
