Williamstown Swim Club Redevelopment Progress

WSLSC.png

Hobsons Bay City Council and the state government have agreed for the Williamstown Swimming and Life Saving Club redevelopment project to be assessed as a state project moving forward.

The change means the Victorian Government will now assess the project as it continues through the planning process, which will continue to ensure transparency, accountability and integrity.

This project is located on Crown land, where the state government is the majority funding partner and the club acts as an emergency services facility, supporting lifesaving and community safety outcomes.

The state government gave an $11.35 million funding commitment to the club in 2021 to upgrade the ageing facilities in line with Life Saving Victoria's facility recommendation guidelines. Council has committed $3 million to the upgrade.

Council will update the community on the project's status as it progresses.
