Win for APS capability as Government moves to shift consultancy work in-house

CPSU

CPSU members have been calling for reform to APS outsourcing which has undermined the capacity of the APS and lacks transparency and accountability.

The Albanese Government has announced the establishment of in-house consulting to replace outsourced consultancy work, in a move that will help rebuild the skills and expertise of the public sector, while saving taxpayers.

A shift to in-house consultancy was a recommendation of the inquiry into the capability of the Australian Public Service held in 2021 - an inquiry at which CPSU workplace leaders gave evidence about the impact of outsourcing in their workplaces. Thousands of CPSU members also shared their experiences and contributed to the CPSU submissions into the inquiry.

You can watch CPSU National Secretary Melissa Donnelly discuss this announcement on the ABC.
