Witness appeal after policeman injured in Doncaster incident

Nunawading Highway Patrol members are appealing for witnesses after a policeman was struck by a car in Doncaster last month, Victoria Police say.

A policeman in an unmarked police car pulled over a car after seeing the 21-year-old female driver on her mobile phone on the Eastern Freeway just after 9pm on Monday 23 April.

While speaking with the driver, a vehicle, driven by a 33-year-old Lilydale man, has clipped the rear of the police car and pinned the senior sergeant between the car and a concrete barrier.

He remains in hospital after receiving serious injuries.

The drivers of the two other vehicles were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police would like to speak to any witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage to contact Crime Stoppers.
