Witness appeal following fatal Heidelberg West collision

Police are appealing for witnesses as part of an ongoing investigation into a collision in Heidelberg West in September where a pedestrian was struck and killed, Victoria Police say.

Emergency services were called to Oriel Road about 8.30am on 9 September after a blue Holden sedan left the roadway and struck the pedestrian.

The vehicle then continued on and struck a fence on Redwood Street, coming to rest in the front yard of that property.

The pedestrian, an 87-year-old Heidelberg West man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries but died later that afternoon.

The driver of the vehicle, a 54-year-old Thomastown man, was taken to hospital for treatment and observation.

Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the collision and would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or the vehicle in the lead up to the collision.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or with further information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
