Police are appealing for witnesses after a possible hit-run which left a cyclist with serious injuries in Fitzroy earlier this month, Victoria Police say.

Emergency services were called to Nicholson Street, near Church Street, following reports a cyclist had been located with serious head injuries on the side of the road about 2.40pm on 17 March.

The 29-year-old man was taken to hospital but has since been released.

He will require ongoing treatment as a result of the injuries.

It is believed the man was struck by a vehicle and police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
