Witness appeal following Glenhuntly assaults

Detectives from Transit Crime Investigation Unit are searching for a several witnesses who are believed to have left the scene following a number of alleged assaults in Glenhuntly last month, Victoria Police say.

Police attended Glenhuntly Railway Station about 11am following reports a man had assaulted five women.

A 47-year-old Carnegie man was arrested at the scene.

Four women were taken to hospital in a stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

The man received 26 charges including attempted murder, intentionally cause serious injury, recklessly cause serious injury, conduct endangering life, conduct endangering serious injury, intentionally cause injury, recklessly cause injury, affray, unlawful assault and making threats to kill.

The investigation into the incident continues and detectives believe a number of people who witnessed the incident are yet to contact police.

It’s believed several people who had been at the scene got on trains and left before police arrived.

Investigators are keen to speak to those witnesses and are urging them to come forward.

The man was remanded and will appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 5 December.
