Witness appeal following Moonee Ponds attempted kidnapping

Fawkner Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives are appealing for witnesses following an alleged attempted kidnapping in Moonee Ponds on 28 October, Victoria Police say.

Two 11-year-old girls were walking down the street when a man allegedly tried to take one of the girls at the intersection of Kendall and Lawson streets about 3.35pm.

She has managed to break free and notified authorities.

Detectives have charged a 44-year-old man with attempted kidnapping and attempted child stealing.

He was remanded in custody to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 27 January 2017
