Witness appeal following Staughton Vale crash

Police are appealing for public assistance following a crash involving a stolen vehicle in Staughton Vale last month, Victoria Police say.

It’s believed the crash occurred around 8.30pm on Friday, 22 September.

The vehicle was travelling along the Geelong-Ballan Road, near Butchers Road when it left the roadway and struck a tree.

Several passersby called police, however the driver had already left the scene.

It’s not known if the driver was injured, however police are not aware of any other vehicles being involved in the incident.

It’s believed the vehicle, a silver 2014 Mazda 3 hatchback was stolen during an aggravated burglary in Kennington on 29 August.

The vehicle was being driven with stolen number plates 1BU 3IS at the time of the crash.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the silver Mazda in the lead up to the incident to come forward.

They are also keen to speak to anyone who potentially has dashcam footage of the crash or the vehicle driving through the area.
