Witnesses appeal after Degraves Street incident

Police from Melbourne Highway Patrol are appealing for witnesses after a man was struck by a truck in the Melbourne CBD this morning.

Emergency services were called to Degraves Street about 5.15am following reports a man lying in the laneway was struck by a reversing garbage truck.

A 30-year-old man of no fixed address was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.

The driver and passenger of the truck stopped to render assistance at the scene.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the man in the laneway prior to the incident to contact police.

It is believed the victim was with another person in the laneway prior to lying down on the road.

Investigators also believe a number of other persons may have seen or interacted with the man before incident occurred.
