Witnesses requested, TAS

Police are calling for witnesses to an assault which occurred at around 6.30pm on Friday the 17th of March, at the beach entrance of the South Arm Neck (also known as Hopes Beach). The incident took place during an argument between two men involving an unruly off leash dog, Tasmania Police say.

As a result, the victim, a 76 year old South Arm resident was left with facial injuries.

Police would like to speak with a man perceived to be, in his mid 20’s, about 170cm tall, slim build, sandy short cropped hair, of fair complexion with no facial hair, or other distinguishing features or jewelry. He was wearing light blue long trousers (possibly jeans), and a short sleeve polo, which was a light fawny color.

The man was also in the company of a woman and they were walking two dogs. The couple were seen driving a beige colored Toyota Landcruiser troop carrier or similar type vehicle.

If you believe you are the person Police wish to speak with or you have some information regarding the incident, please contact Detective Constable Damien McVilly on 131 444 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
