Witnesses urged to come forward after man seriously assaulted in Cronulla

Police are appealing for information as they investigate a serious assault of a man in what is believed to have been an unprovoked attack in Cronulla last night, NSW Police say.

About 11.30pm yesterday, a 21-year-old man was at a car park of a convenience store on The Kingsway with two relatives.

Police have been told two unknown males approached the group, before one punched the 21-year-old in the face, causing him to fall unconscious.

The pair ran from the scene along Gosport Street and Burke Road, where one of the males punched the driver’s window of a parked car, shattering the glass before continuing east along the same road.

Emergency services were called and the injured man was taken to Sutherland Hospital where he is being treated for a possible fractured cheek or eye socket.

Officers from Miranda Local Area Command attended and commenced investigations.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to two males who may be able to assist them.

Both are described as being of Caucasian appearance and aged between 16 to 20-years-old. One of the males had short blond hair, was about 175cm tall, and of athletic build.

The second male had short black hair, was about 185cm tall, and of slim build.

Initial inquiries have led police to believe the pair may have been dropped off in the area prior to the incident by a vehicle described as being light-coloured (possibly silver), and similar to a Toyota Camry or Aurion.

Witnesses who have not yet spoken to police, or anyone with information, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
